Three Senn High School students, ages 15 and 16, were shot around 4 p.m. while walking in the 1200 block of West Thorndale Avenue in Edgewater. Gunmen inside a vehicle exited and opened fire toward the teens. Two victims were taken to Ascension St. Francis in Evanston in critical condition and one was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition. One teen, identified as 16-year-old Daveon Gibson of Humboldt Park, died; an autopsy is scheduled. One victim remained hospitalized in critical condition and one stabilized after a leg wound. The mayor condemned the violence and vowed to use government resources to stop attacks on young people.
