Australia's female sprinters missed out on medals in the 100m freestyle final in one of the biggest shocks. Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom won in 52.16sec, with the American Torri Huske second and Hong Kong's Siobhan Haughey third.
Mollie O'Callaghan narrowly missed a medal in fourth place by 0.01sec, while Shayna Jack finished fifth. The race was exceptionally close, with Sjostrom finally triumphing in her fifth Olympics.
