These automakers want Trump to resume the federal charging program
Briefly

After the Trump administration halted the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), representing major automakers and EV interests, urged a reconsideration. The NEVI program, originally passed under Biden, aimed to create a nationwide charging network with significant investment but had only resulted in limited outcomes so far. EDTA stressed the need for investments in charging stations, which create jobs and enhance transportation choices while promoting energy security and domestic innovation. They called for swift action to resume the initiative to support states that have invested in related infrastructure.
"Investments in charging and refueling stations are creating jobs and expanding consumers' transportation choices in every state," wrote Genevieve Cullen, EDTA President, in a statement.
"The NEVI program, created in bipartisan legislation, is an effective and important element of a truly strategic energy policy that promotes US innovation, domestic investment and energy security."
"We urge the Administration to quickly resume the critical work of the program and minimize uncertainty for states and their businesses, who have invested in infrastructure to serve local and national goals for advanced transportation."
