Tesla China discontinues Model S and Model X orders amid tariff war
Briefly

The first quarter of 2025 saw electric vehicle sales in the U.S. rise by 11.4 percent year over year, with Tesla and Ford leading in sales. Tesla sold 128,100 EVs, although this reflects an 8.6 percent decline compared to the previous year. Ford's sales grew by 11.5 percent, reaching 22,550 units. Notably, GM's Chevrolet brand experienced a remarkable 114.2 percent increase, driven largely by the Chevy Equinox EV. Overall, EVs now make up around 7.5 percent of the automobile market, indicating a steady upward trend despite challenges from previous tariffs under the Trump administration.

"Tesla outsold the next top 10 brand names combined in Q1 with 128,100 units, though sales declined 8.6 percent year over year for the brand."
