Briefly

A minivan caught fire in the Caldecott Tunnel leading to severe traffic delays. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The tunnel reopened after about three hours.
Oakland Fire Department crews extinguished the fire within an hour and by noon, the vehicle was successfully towed from the tunnel. Eyewitness accounts differ regarding the cause.
"Anytime you have a fire that's in a confined space like a tunnel, it can be obviously very hazardous for other drivers that are entering and exiting." - Michael Hunt, Oakland Fire Department spokesperson.
"Both bores of eastbound lanes were closed entirely after the fire, though one reopened after about 35 minutes, still significantly impacting traffic for hours."
