The Metropolitan police stated that a man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after a bow and arrow were found in his car at approximately 6.15am on Wednesday, 25 September, near the Peers car park.
Further investigations revealed that the man was also arrested for breaching the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act legislation and vehicle interference, prompting concerns about security near the House of Lords.
After being taken into custody, the man was sectioned under the Mental Health Act, indicating that authorities deemed him a risk and he remains in the care of medical professionals.
With the Houses of Parliament in recess since the political party conferences began on 13 September, only a few MPs and peers were expected to be present, minimizing potential risk.
