Police say two men connected to a Toronto car dealership face 176 charges in a $2.18 million stolen vehicle scam, exploiting their sales positions.
The accused allegedly used dealership funds to buy vehicles from numbered companies, including some owned by them, creating fake agreements to sell stolen cars.
Investigators discovered 22 fraudulent auto sales linked to the accused, who employed tactics such as altering Carfax reports and using 'clean' VINs.
During a sweep, officers uncovered two suspected 're-vinned' vehicles and documents used in the scam, underscoring the organized nature of their operations.
