Remote and hybrid work arrangements have made workplaces far less formal and less attentive to unwritten norms of professional behavior. Many people are overconfident about navigating gray areas of business etiquette despite declining everyday manners. Some companies now offer training to re-teach proper dress, speech, and conduct to employees who adapted to home routines. A Wall Street Journal quiz, created with input from descendants of Emily Post, tested responses to workplace scenarios and revealed very weak results: only 0.3 percent answered all questions correctly, fewer than 5 percent scored eight or more, and just over 16 percent answered two or fewer appropriately.
