After being laid off from a content design job, a game developer and content creator felt a loss of identity and purpose. Repeated rejection in the job market led her to pursue entrepreneurship full-time as an indie game developer and creator. She partnered with a publisher to launch her game, “Lily’s World XD,” and focused on projects she is passionate about. Before the layoff she had a small social media following and no brand deal experience. Afterward, she created a list of desired brands and reached out to them, securing early deals. Those experiences taught her how to negotiate rates, send invoices, and communicate with brands, which became a core income source. She emphasizes that opportunities can be created when none appear.
"If I could go back to when I first got laid off, I'd tell myself things will be OK. Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. You don't have to go with the obvious path. If there aren't opportunities in front of you, it's possible to create your own."
