Sunwing stranded couple for 5 days after vacation, charged them $50 flight change fee to fly home | CBC News
Briefly

Sunwing Airlines is under scrutiny following numerous passenger complaints about flight cancellations and delays in February. Many travelers reported being stranded for days, with Sunwing accused of not adhering to Canada's air passenger regulations, which mandate rebooking or transport within 48 hours. More specifically, passengers Hans Roach and Tanya McConnell were stranded in the Dominican Republic for five days without proper communication, highlighting issues in customer service and accountability. Although Sunwing covered hotel costs, it failed to reimburse taxi fares during their extended wait, intensifying frustrations.
This wasn't just a matter of inconvenience, it was a traumatic event, said Hans Roach.
It's very disheartening to think that a large airline like this would break that rule, said Roach.
