The abrupt end of the federal Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles program has left the market in confusion, threatening to undermine Canada’s climate ambitions and EV sales.
David Adams, president of Global Automakers of Canada, remarked, "It took everybody by shock, to be honest," regarding the unforeseen cessation of the iZEV program, highlighting widespread disarray.
With the iZEV program’s sudden halt, customers expecting up to $5,000 in rebates are left without options, leaving dealerships scrambling to adjust their sales strategies.
The government indicated that only those whose applications were pre-approved before January 13 would qualify, creating chaos for dealers and customers alike due to poor communication.
