Calvin Butner, a 64-year-old former Massachusetts State Police trooper, has agreed to plead guilty to multiple counts involving a conspiracy that resulted in passing commercial driver's license (CDL) test scores being awarded to at least 17 applicants regardless of their actual performance. This scheme, which occurred between May 2019 and January 2023, involved Butner and three other members of the CDL unit. The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced his upcoming plea hearing for April 7, 2023, and also noted that a civilian co-defendant had recently pleaded guilty to related charges.
