Electric vehicle sales in Canada hit a record high, with over 65,000 zero-emission vehicles registered in Q2, representing 12.9% of all registrations.
J.D. Power's J.D. Ney noted, 'We're past the early adopter phase... The next step is to convince a much wider swath of Canadians that electrification is right for them.'
Concerns about expenses and practicality remain, with Ney stating, 'If I make a mistake buying an EV... that's a $65,000 problem.'
Sales of plug-in hybrids surged by 43.1%. PHEVs might appeal to drivers worried about electric range and charging infrastructure.
