They said residents were relocated and multiple fire departments from the county helped attack the blaze. A person was found dead during a search of the building, said police."
"The county said in a news release Friday that the fire took place at a Northumberland County Housing Corporation (NCHC) apartment complex. Three firefighters and a tenant were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said the county. It said 20 people have been displaced with social services staff working to find alternative accommodations for the time being. Anyone needing support is encouraged to contact Victim Services of Peterborough."
"I also wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the many tenants who have lost their homes, and to all those affected by this tragic incident, said Cathy Borowec, board chair of the NCHC, in the county's release. The cause of the fire is currently unknown with OPP, the Ontario Fire Marshall and Office of the Chief Coroner at the scene currently investigating the incident."
