U.S. Attorney Tara McGrath was unexpectedly removed from her position after being informed by the White House. Her departure comes after about 16 months in office, during which she emphasized her commitment to justice and collaboration with law enforcement. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Haden will take over as acting U.S. attorney. McGrath's removal follows the customary process of a new presidential administration reshuffling U.S. attorneys, differing from the previous administration's practices. McGrath reflected on her honor to serve and acknowledged the partnership with public servants during her tenure.
As I step down from a decades-long career in public service, I remain inspired by dedicated public servants across this district and am proud of all we achieved together.
It has been an honor to serve as U.S. Attorney, working alongside an exceptional team in this office and forging strong partnerships with our law enforcement agencies and communities in pursuit of justice.
