The suspect is a 23-year-old Gilroy man who already was in custody in the Santa Clara County Main Jail, being held on unrelated charges, police said in a news release Friday. He has since been arrested in the vehicle burglary cases."

Officers responded to 114 reported vehicle burglaries at locations on Cres Village Circle, Iron Point Drive, Casa Verde Street and Baypointe Parkway. Detectives determined a man entered parking garages, broke into vehicles and fled before officers arrived. The suspect, already jailed on unrelated charges, was linked through an extensive burglary unit investigation; a search warrant at his Gilroy home recovered evidence of the burglaries. City leaders praised coordinated law enforcement efforts.
