A KOIN 6 Weather Alert is in place for western Oregon and southwest Washington as dangerous heat returns on Aug. 1, with temperatures reaching the upper 90s and possibly hitting 100 degrees in some areas.
Portland's current record of 98 degrees, set in 2015, is likely to be broken on Thursday with a forecasted high of 100 degrees, challenging previous records.
