Sierra County Sheriff's officials report that a 58-year-old Reno man, flashing signs of substance influence, was arrested on suspicion of arson after igniting a fire near Stampede Reservoir early Sunday.
Cal Fire officials described the fire, first spotted around 3:25 a.m., as a 'significant blaze' in thick brush and timber, which firefighters managed to contain to 2 acres.
Authorities have linked a 41-year-old Clearlake convict, who previously served time for arson, to two recent fires in Lake County, facing multiple felony charges.
The recent fires in Lake County burned less than an acre combined, with the convicted arsonist, connected to these incidents, now dealing with serious felony charges.
