According to California sheriff's officials, a 19-year-old man skillfully managed to steal approximately $42,000 worth of fuel from a gas station near National City over several months.
Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the thief, as employees observed discrepancies between the station's fuel sales and consumption, leading to his arrest.
Deputies reported the suspect filled plastic containers with gasoline, managing to deceive the pumps into thinking transactions were valid, despite them being uncharged.
After his latest visit on Dec 2, station employees contacted authorities, resulting in the apprehension of the suspect on charges of grand theft.
