Gourinchas mentioned, "The risks of a recession in the U.S., in the absence of very sharp shock, would be somewhat diminished," indicating confidence in current economic resilience.
He noted strong productivity growth as a significant factor for U.S. outperformance, stating, "this is somewhat unlike other advanced economies." He also highlighted a rise in immigration.
Gourinchas remarked that the Fed’s recent pivot towards interest rate cuts signifies progress in controlling inflation and aims to stabilize the labor market.
