Today, there are more 55 million Americans aged 65 and over. That's nearly 17 percent of the U.S. population.
According to a Pew Research study, the older workforce in America has nearly quadrupled in size since the mid-1980's and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that older adults are projected to account for 57 percent of labor force growth over the next decade.
