Starbucks workers' union goes on strike in US cities
Briefly

The Starbucks Workers United Union, which represents employees at 525 stores across the US, said late on Thursday that walkouts would escalate daily and could reach hundreds of stores nationwide by Christmas Eve. This strike is a continuation of escalating labor actions, as workers demand better pay and improved working conditions in an economy grappling with high inflation.
According to union member Shep Searl, 100 percent of the unionised workers at the Starbucks location in Chicago's Edgewater neighbourhood were participating in the strike. The workers reported facing numerous unfair labor practices, including write-ups, captive-audience meetings, and firings. They expressed that their current wage of $21 an hour is insufficient, even though it would have been a decent wage a decade ago.
