On Nov. 15, 30-year-old Brian Irizarry lost his balance and fell onto the roadway at 4th Avenue and 60th Street in Sunset Park. Unfortunately, he was struck by a truck, and despite the efforts of EMS, he was pronounced dead on arrival. This tragic event underscores the dangers pedestrians face, even while standing on the sidewalk.
The following day, on Nov. 16, another pedestrian incident occurred when a 60-year-old man was hit while crossing Flatbush Avenue at Hendrickson Place. The man, reportedly outside the crosswalk, was struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old. This incident raises concerns about pedestrian safety and adherence to crosswalk laws.
