
A deadly fire broke out inside a Brooklyn apartment building at 1693 Nostrand Ave. in East Flatbush early Saturday morning. Units from Battalion 40 responded to multiple calls shortly before 7 a.m. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor. A man and a woman, both civilians, were pronounced dead at the scene. At least one person was in serious condition, and two others had non-life-threatening injuries. The fire was brought under control at around 7:45 a.m. FDNY marshals are investigating what caused the blaze.
