Red Hook Neighborhood Restaurant Pitt's Has Closed
"We're at a pivotal moment where we could turn things around if people know. Following his announcement and the Eater interview, things started happening in a good way [for Agi's], but they required a lot of my attention."
"I love Red Hook - it's such a great, strong community, but it's very hard to get to, unless you have a really big name like Red Hook Tavern, your draw is limited."
"It was for the best to part ways with the space, which was incredibly gut-wrenching, because it is such a personal project."
Pitt's, a Red Hook restaurant owned by chef Jeremy Salamon, has permanently closed as of March 4. Originally announced as a seasonal winter hiatus in January, the closure became permanent as Salamon focused on his other restaurant, Agi's Counter, which was experiencing financial difficulties. After receiving attention and support, Agi's Counter required significant time and resources to stabilize. Salamon attributed Pitt's struggles to slow business and its challenging Red Hook location, noting that without a major brand name, customer draw was limited. He considered various solutions including subletting or converting the space, but ultimately decided to close permanently, describing the decision as gut-wrenching despite being necessary.
