Olmsted, a popular Brooklyn restaurant known for its seasonal dishes, is closing permanently after nearly ten years of operation. Chef Greg Baxtrom announced the closure, stating that the restaurant can no longer meet his standards. Efforts to save the restaurant were unsuccessful. Baxtrom has previously closed another eatery, Patti Ann's, and continues to operate 5 Acres. He plans to pursue new restaurant opportunities and is set to release his first cookbook later this year. The final dinner will take place on August 17, with current hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
Deciding to close a restaurant is never based on a single decision, but rather on many factors. As we settle into nearly ten years on Vanderbilt Avenue with these small restaurants, I realize they no longer have the capacity to meet the standards that mean so much to me.
Olmsted holds a very special place in my heart. Efforts to potentially save the restaurant had fallen through, ultimately leading to its closure. I plan to pursue new restaurant opportunities that reflect the same high standards I've become known for in New York City and beyond.
We are currently open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Our final meal will be served on August 17.
My first cookbook is set to be released later this year, showcasing my culinary journey and passion for food.
