An elderly Brooklyn woman, Carolyn Cox, 83, was struck by a turning dump truck steps from her home in Gowanus and pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The incident occurred when Carolyn was attempting to cross the street mid-block and was hit by the passenger side of a dump truck making a right-hand turn.
The truck driver stopped the vehicle after the accident at a nearby location, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this time following the tragic incident in Gowanus, and the circumstances surrounding the accident are still being investigated.
