East New York Workshop to Reimagine LIRR Substation 2
"The event will bring together community members and architecture students at the Spitzer School of Architecture to brainstorm ideas for transforming the long-shuttered structure into a community facility."
"The community workshop will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by a group discussion led by PENY."
A community workshop, hosted by Preserving East New York (PENY) and East New York Community Land Trust (ENYCLT), is set for March 9 at the New Lots Library. Local residents and architecture students will come together to brainstorm ideas for repurposing the historic Long Island Railroad Substation 2. Originally constructed in 1905, the red-brick building symbolizes East New York's history and importance in the region's transportation network. The event aims to ignite community involvement and creative solutions for preserving and rejuvenating the vacant site.
