City's public hospital receives $5M donation to recruit and retain behavioral health staff
Briefly

The donation, from Black Family Philanthropies, is one of the largest gifts of its kind that the city's public health system has received. 80%, or $4 million of the donation, will support the BH4NYC Loan Repayment Program, which provides debt relief for providers, nurses, social workers and other staff in exchange for a 3-year commitment to the health system.
Over the next two years, more than 120 behavioral health providers at NYC Health + Hospitals will receive up to $75,000 in student debt relief. The additional $1 million in funding will be used for staff retention through career advancement and workplace safety initiatives.
