At approximately 2:30 a.m. on January 6, 2025, a three-alarm fire erupted in East New York, Brooklyn, affecting three properties and injuring two residents. It quickly escalated, with flames severely damaging the vacant 181 Miller Ave. structure, leading to its partial collapse.
The inferno caused firefighters to cut through window bars on the second floor of one building to reach the main body of the fire, which was complicated by the vicinity of occupied homes.
