According to the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad, Blagovisny was speeding when he collided with another vehicle and then crashed into a guard rail, causing his SUV to become airborne.
Emergency services rushed Blagovisny to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center; despite efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, with a passenger from his vehicle stabilizing in the hospital.
The investigation into the fatal accident is being conducted by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad as they look into the events leading to the crash.
