The NYPD reported a surge in ATM burglaries across Brooklyn and Manhattan, with a gang stealing over a dozen machines in the last three months.
Using various makes and models of minivans, thieves broke into establishments, primarily targeting bodegas, convenience stores, and pizzerias, stealing cash directly from ATMs.
Each burglary typically occurs overnight, during which the perpetrators cut through secure gates or break through doors to access the cash machines.
Notably, in one incident, a lone suspect, identifiable by a ski mask and gloves, managed to execute the theft independently, showing navigational prowess.
