A 73-year-old woman, Chana Layosh, was fatally struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while crossing near the Bais Horoa of Flatbush, with the incident reportedly occurring just steps from her home.
According to police reports, the woman was crossing Avenue L at the busy intersection when the driver, traveling eastbound, made a right turn and collided with her.
After the accident, shopping bags were seen laying in the roadway, highlighting that the incident occurred in a neighborhood she was familiar with and close to her residence.
The driver of the Jeep, who is 57 years old, remained at the scene after the accident, though as of the latest updates, no charges have been made.
