The scaffolding covering Brooklyn Technical High School, which has been in place since 2019 due to extensive repairs, is finally coming down, marking the end of a five-year wait for the community.
The School Construction Authority acknowledged the frustration caused by the prolonged presence of the scaffolding, attributing it to necessary repairs on the 90-year-old structure that took longer than anticipated because of unexpected new cracks.
As nearly 6,000 students return to Brooklyn Tech after the holidays, they will find the school's exterior finally visible, ending years of masked work and repairs.
Community members expressed mixed feelings about the scaffolding, reflecting on its extended presence and the coincidence of its removal following years of visible construction work.
