The blaze broke around 12:50 a.m. at 35 Winthrop St. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. The FDNY said the fire started on the fourth floor of the six-story apartment building. It took firefighters less than an hour to get the fire under control."
"They found an 81-year-old woman unresponsive inside a fourth-floor apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Five other people suffered minor injuries in the fire. The woman's identity has not been released as of Friday evening. FDNY fire marshals will investigate the cause of the fire."
