The closing of Silvertone in Downtown Crossing hit me hard, as I had so many great memories of the place over the years, including dining on their outstanding steak tips and mac and cheese while enjoying a cocktail or two. - Marc Hurwitz, founder of Boston's Hidden Restaurants and Boston Restaurant Talk, food/travel writer for NBC Boston/ NECN
It was Maxie's Delicatessen in Stoughton. I grew up in places like this, eating sable and white fish and lean corned beef on rye with half-sour pickles and Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray tonic. Old-school Jewish delis are a dying breed. - Devra First, restaurant critic for the Boston Globe
Every restaurant closing is hard to watch. You hope that with every experience, the industry comes back a little stronger. I'll definitely miss Silvertone as it was a go-to spot in Downtown Crossing for many years. - Brian Samuels, Boston food photographer
Hands down, for me it was Tenderoni's flagship in Fenway. Like Tiger Mama in the same space before it, Tenderoni's was my go-to. I'd planned on swinging in for what no one knew was their last brunch service but then thought, 'Oh, I'll go next week.' Its closure definitely left an empty spot in the Fenway dining scene. - Anonymous Contributor
