Boston Mayor Michelle Wu proclaimed September 29, 2023, as "Joe Castiglione Day" in the city, recognizing his immense contribution to the Red Sox and the community.
"Joe Castiglione has been the voice of the Red Sox for 42 seasons, there when the Sox broke the curse in 2004 and beloved by generations of fans," said Wu.
The pregame ceremony will feature several former Red Sox stars including Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens, underscoring Castiglione's impact on the team.
NESN will broadcast the audio feed of Castiglione's final radio call during the ninth inning, allowing fans to celebrate his retirement.
