Developers are set to transform a 2.24-acre site in Dorchester, previously home to WLVI TV station, into a mixed-use development featuring 750 residential units and retail space. The design includes two towering buildings and an adjoining community park, aiming to meet the needs for transit-oriented housing as emphasized by local consultations. With BPDA approval granted in December 2023, 20% of the residential units will be affordable, underlining the project's focus on benefiting the surrounding neighborhoods while revitalizing a long-vacant site.
Developers have unveiled plans to transform a 2.24-acre site off Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester into a mixed-use apartment complex, comprising 750 residential units, ground-floor retail, and outdoor green space.
The project, which the BPDA approved in December 2023, includes two buildings of 204 and 206 feet high, with an emphasis on transit-oriented housing for the community's long-term interests.
Copper Mill CEO Andrew Flynn highlighted the engagement with community members, noting that the redevelopment of the former radio station building was a significant need identified during consultations.
About 150 of the 750 housing units will be designated as affordable, demonstrating a commitment to serving the housing needs of the Savin Hill, Columbia Point, and greater Dorchester neighborhoods.
