Chappy, the seal pup rescued from New Haven streets, has died
Briefly

Chappy, a gray seal pup rescued in New Haven, Connecticut, passed away after being treated for dehydration, malnutrition, and pneumonia at the Mystic Aquarium. Initially responding well to treatment, his condition worsened due to gastrointestinal complications from transitioning to whole fish. A necropsy revealed twisted intestines and plastics in his stomach, emphasizing the dangers posed by marine debris. Aquarium staff expressed their sorrow over Chappy's passing and thanked the community for their support during his treatment, underlining the challenges of caring for stranded marine animals.
The reality of working with stranded animals can be tough sometimes, but Chappy was surrounded by love until the very end, the Mystic Aquarium wrote.
Unfortunately, despite all the efforts, his gastrointestinal issues were too severe to treat, and he succumbed to his disease.
