More than 100 individuals were seen riding bicycles, dirt bikes, and motorized scooters on Boston highways, starting at the Zakim Bridge and entering the O'Neill Tunnel. Reports began coming in around 2 p.m., and the group briefly exited before returning. State Police intervened when a dirt bike collided with a cruiser, resulting in the arrest of a 22-year-old man for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The crashed bike was identified as stolen, prompting police to monitor the group from the air.
State Police arrested a 22-year-old Winthrop man Saturday after more than 100 people were seen riding bicycles, dirt bikes, and motorized scooters on Boston highways.
Troopers caught up with the group when one of the dirt bikes hit a cruiser near the intersection of D St. and Summer St. The biker fled on foot.
Police identified the crashed dirt bike as stolen property and deployed the agency's Air Wing to monitor the group of riders.
The man is expected to appear Monday in South Boston District Court on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
