Paul McCartney's upcoming book "Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run" details the formation and journey of his '70s band, Wings, after the Beatles. The 528-page book, releasing on November 4, includes insights from McCartney's memories and interviews with past bandmates and family. It chronicles the band's journey through nine albums, highlighted by the iconic "Band on the Run." Accompanying the text are 150 photos, many previously unseen, offering a comprehensive view of the band's impact and experiences during their active years.
I'm so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book. Starting from scratch after the Beatles felt crazy at times. There were some very difficult moments and I often questioned my decision. But as we got better I thought, 'OK this is really good.' We proved Wings could be a really good band, to play to huge audiences in the same way the Beatles had and have an impact in a different way. It was a huge buzz.
Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run begins with the band's founding in 1971—with Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, and Denny Seiwell—and is organized around their nine albums, including the 1973 staple Band on the Run, on through to their dissolution in 1981.
