Cian Uijtdebroeks has once again experienced numbness in his legs, an issue that previously forced him to leave the Vuelta a España and end his 2022 season. Recently, while competing in Tirreno-Adriatico, he felt the same troubling symptoms, which led to his early retirement from the race at 60 km into the closing stage. Uijtdebroeks expressed disappointment but maintained a positive outlook, stating that he believes a solution can be found with the help of medical professionals. He is scheduled to participate in the Settimana Coppi e Bartali but may need to adjust his racing plans based on ongoing investigations.
Uijtdebroeks expressed frustration over the recurrence of numbness in his legs, stating, 'I had it again for the first time this year. It didn't work. That just sucks.' He emphasized the emotional toll it took on him, sharing, 'The effort made me emotional, but I was able to put everything in perspective and discuss it with the staff. There is no reason to panic.' His confidence remained intact as he added, 'We will find the solution and then good times will come again.' He is scheduled for further medical investigations.
Reflecting on his performance, Uijtdebroeks described not being able to race at his potential as 'frustrating'; however, he showed resilience by stating, 'If you, as a top athlete, can't do what you train so much for, it feels very bad. But we will find the solution and then good times will come again.' He believes that his team will work together to overcome this challenge.
