Swans announce new album Birthing, share sprawling new song "I Am a Tower"
Briefly

Swans are set to release their 17th studio album titled 'Birthing' on May 30th, featuring the 20-minute single 'I Am a Tower'. Led by Michael Gira, the album was recorded over two years in Berlin and involves several collaborators. Gira announced that this album will be their last in the current style, with future projects promising a more simplified approach. He emphasized his intention for the music to create an uplifting environment. A European tour is planned, which will be the final shows in this expansive sound format, moving forward to more intimate performances.
This album, coupled with the recent live release, Live Rope, constitutes my final foray (as producer / impresario) into the all-consuming sound worlds that have been my obsession for years.
In the meantime, my hope is that the music provides a positive and fertile atmosphere in which to dream.
After that, Swans will continue, so long as I'm able, but in a significantly pared down form.
Expect their future concerts to be more intimate and/or ambient than the usual wall-of-sound fare.
