The Ranglum cocktail, a mixture of rum, lime, and falernum, is an unexpected yet successful creation originating from Berlin's Victoria Bar in 2006.
Gonçalo de Sousa Monteiro, the creator of Ranglum, combined his background in architecture with a passion for gastronomy, contributing to the cocktail renaissance of the early 2000s.
Falernum, a once-important ingredient in classic cocktails like Corn 'n' Oil and Rum Swizzle, had faded into obscurity before de Sousa Monteiro revived it in the Ranglum.
The Ranglum cocktail's complexity is enhanced by the use of dark Jamaican rums, lime to balance the sweetness of falernum, and a touch of Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum for added depth.
