Aria restaurant in Atlanta is set to welcome Joseph Harrison as its new executive chef on June 18. Harrison, celebrated for his achievements at Common Thread in Savannah and noted as a James Beard Award semifinalist, is tasked with continuing the 25-year legacy left by founding chef Gerry Klaskala. His plan involves not just a menu enhancement but a revamp of dining elements and atmosphere. Harrison expresses excitement about partnering with owner Andrés Loaiza to elevate the restaurant's experience, particularly given Aria's recent recognition as a finalist for Outstanding Hospitality in the James Beard Awards.
"Working with Gerry Klaskala is a dream," Harrison says. "Andrés and I share the same passion for hospitality, front and back of house alike."
"I'm humbled to uphold what Gerry built, and excited to evolve it."
Aria was just named a 2025 James Beard Award finalist for Outstanding Hospitality.
From Savannah's Common Thread to Aria's Buckhead Kitchen, Harrison first caught Klaskala's eye and heart when he helmed Mystic Grill in Conyers.
