Montrel Beverly is a sculptor known for creating imaginative art using pipe cleaners, drawing inspiration from anime, video games, and classic artwork. His creations range from whimsical ferris wheels to iconic paintings like The Last Supper. His goal is to elevate pipe cleaners as a recognized art form. Collaborating with Texas' Sage Studio, which supports artists with disabilities, Montrel is part of a vibrant community that promotes inclusion and creativity, showcasing diverse talents at numerous exhibitions and events, including the Outsider Art Fair in New York City.
When I started working with pipe cleaners, I mostly made figurines. I was inspired a lot by anime, video games, and robots.
I like to bring out the inner child in people.
I would like for pipe cleaners to become a more recognised art medium.
Sage have represented the work of more than 75 artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mounted over 30 exhibitions.
