"I tried a lot of different ways, including an oxide juice technique and a fake wood rubber tool used by carpenters, but I ended with a combination of three matte glazes,"
"I'm thinking of doing a cuckoo clock now-stay tuned!"

Eléonore Joulin is a Brussels-based artist who handcrafts ceramic lamps and vessels that mimic food and everyday objects, including vegetables, sausages, bread, and cheese. She experiments with glazes, creating trompe-l'œil finishes that make ceramics resemble organic materials like cabbage leaves or melting Raclette. The ceramic permanence contrasts with expected perishability, creating playful tension. Joulin spent nearly six months developing a glaze and texture to mimic wood, combining three matte glazes after testing oxide juice techniques and a faux-wood rubber tool. Future projects may include a cuckoo clock transformed into ceramic form.
