Over 4 million high school students have participated in the national poetry competition, Poetry Out Loud, in the past 20 years. It's about Native Americans and their culture and how they have been erased from history. I feel that it was very relevant to everything that is happening in the world today.
I was never the type of person who loved poetry or appreciated poetry to the fullest. But as I've gone through the process, I've developed a newfound love of poetry.
