Nine-in-ten public sector organizations globally are exploring agentic AI in the coming years. While two-thirds are engaged in generative AI initiatives, only 21% have suitable data for training AI models. Capgemini's research highlights that 39% of organizations will evaluate agentic AI's feasibility, and 45% will pursue pilots. Despite progress, executives report that data security and trust in outputs hinder adoption. Additionally, fewer than 40% feel equipped to comply with the EU AI Act, indicating ongoing challenges in data maturity and management.
Nine-in-ten public sector organizations worldwide are planning to explore, pilot, or implement agentic AI in the next two to three years, according to research from Capgemini.
With rising citizen demands and stretched resources, public sector organizations recognize the ways in which AI can help them do more with less, said Marc Reinhardt, public sector global industry leader at Capgemini.
However, the ability to deploy Gen AI and agentic AI depends on having rock-solid data foundations.
Only 12% of organizations considered themselves very mature in activating data, while 7% report being very mature in nurturing data and AI-related skills.
