Google's AI Overviews are appearing across retail, travel, finance, healthcare, and automotive SERPs and are associated with an 8–12% decline in paid search click-through rates where they appear. Finance queries experienced the largest increase in AI Overviews across informational and top-funnel queries, followed by healthcare. Visibility of AI Overviews changes with query length from one to ten words. Some businesses report that the clicks reaching their sites are of higher quality despite lower volume. Advertisers may need to increase visibility and bid more aggressively on paid placements as AI Overviews evolve. ChatGPT Atlas is a new browser designed to work seamlessly with the chatbot.
